New Baby and New Lifestyle

We welcomed our new son, Zane, into the world on Friday, 8/08/2008. He weighed 7 lbs 10 oz and was 20.5 inches long. We had chosen not to find out the sex of the baby but I have to say that we were surprised to discover that it was another boy. We just were sure that it was a girl. Well, John was sure; me, not so much. The doctor let John announce to me what the sex was and there was this huge pause. I finally asked "Well, is it Zane or is it Saige?" There was another huge pause, then a "It looks like Zane to me." He sounded stunned! Tee hee! I just burst into happy tears as soon as I heard the crying.

Things have been challenging the last week since we brought him home but it is MUCH easier this time around. I feel like we are getting enough sleep (mostly!) and have a much better handle on being a parent to a new baby. Zane is providing a few challenges, mostly digestive, that Wyatt did not and that is concerning. We are going to the doctor this afternoon just to make sure all is well. Overall, Zane is so far an "easier" baby than Wyatt, who was awake much more in the early weeks. It is awesome to have a new child and something that I feel unbelievably blessed to experience again at age 44.
